MU : PFA Team Of The Year 2011

♠ Posted by kayrozz in ,,, at 8:39 AM
Manchester United may have missed out on a 5th consecutive PFA Player Of The Year award, but managed to get four footballers in the 2011 PFA Team Of The Year. Edwin Van Der Sar, Nemanja Vidic, Luis Nani and Dimitar Berbatov all made the cut in the select XI - the most out of any Premier League club...

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale claimed the PFA Player Of The Year accolade for 2011 on Sunday night, narrowly beating Arsenal's Samir Nasri and Manchester City's Carlos Tevez to the prestigious award. Nemanja Vidic was United's only player nominated for the senior award, and despite an impeccable season - he could not follow Cristiano Ronaldo (twice), Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney to bagging the gong in recent years.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, 19, was handed the 2011 PFA Young Player Of The Year - fending off second placed Gareth Bale and third placed Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez. Luis Nani, despite having scored and assisted (combined) more goals than any other Premier League player (27), was nowhere to be seen in the youngsters category. Meanwhile, World Cup final referee Howard Webb was awarded the PFA Merit achievement.

What The Red Devils failed to win in the individual department, they made-up for in the 2011 PFA Team Of The Year line-up. Four United players were listed on the 11-man teamsheet; Edwin Van Der Sar having made an overall phenomenal 38 appearances, Nemanja Vidic holding strong in 40 games, Luis Nani leading to 27 goals in the Premier League, and Dimitar Berbatov netting an unrivalled domestic league tally of 21 goals. Well done lads !
